This concept album is a true labor of love and frustration that came from the challenges administered by the harsh realities brought on by 2020. Due to limitations in the technology used for these recordings, there are flaws, glitches, static, and ghosts nested amongst these tracks. To me they represent the unpredictability and inconsistencies of the human condition in the present day. These imperfections also enhance an accurate portrayal of the year 2020, through my eyes.
These songs are primarily in the key of A and D and chronologically trail a personal sentiment of the year. If you are stuck at home and want to learn a new song (or instrument), these are easy songs to play along with. For example: I learned how to play harmonica on “No Fun” and contrary to the title, it was fun. It also worked out, so I left it in there. A lot of the musical mishaps that occurred were left in place because everybody makes mistakes, nothing is perfect, and I wanted this album to have a live jam vibe to it.
In loving memory of some exceptionally creative and incredible humans that I lost this fateful year. First and foremost, my friend, my hero, and my loving father - Mr. Wendell Cameron. #RestInPride
This album is also dedicated to my fallen friends in the underground performance art community - Jeremy Heisler and Ken Chin. #RestInPower brothers, and “oink on” Chi!
I love and miss you all! ~ W ~
